The LatviaIn long form the Republic of Latvia (in Latvian : Latvija and Latvijas Republika), is a northern European country in the Baltic States. Located on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea, it has land borders with Lithuania to the south, Estonia to the north, Russia to the east, Belarus to the southeast and a sea border with Sweden to the west.

Latvia has been a Member State of the European Union since 1 January 2004.^er May 2004 and the Eurozone since 1 January^er January 2014.

Raduraksti project

In 2010, the Latvian Archives created a virtual reading room, the Raduraksti website, which provided access to parish registers (including rabbinate vital records), Livland and Curonian revision lists, surviving copies of the All-Russian Census and information on university students. . The website was completely redesigned and moved in February 2020. Unlike the old website, where the user had a choice of languages, the current website of Raduraksti is only in Latvian.
